IndieClub.com Frequently Asked Questions
(If you are looking for filmmaking or acting FAQ's - check back soon)

1. What is IndieClub?

IndieClub.com was started in 1998 by Eric Colley, a filmmaker from the Pacific Northwest. IndieClub.com has brought together more than 30,000 filmmakers worldwide. Its members include directors, writers, actors, editors, and crew members. IndieClub.com has one purpose and that is to network us all together. IndieClub.com currently garners more Internet traffic than any other international film organization. The organization currently has active chapters in over 70 locations throughout the world. The local chapters hold regular meetings and host filmmaking events. The website has many resources, including a message board, posting board, on-line store, discounts from film-related vendors/organizations, and search features that allow members to search for cast and crew members for upcoming projects. We are happy to promote our members in any way that we can!

2. What is the Sponsor Membership?

There is an option for a free membership though many of our member benefits are available only to Sponsor Members (only $24 a year for basic Sponsor Membership; $99/yr if you want to put your demo reel online). The Sponsor Membership is your way of saying that you appreciate our organization, and it allows IndieClub to continue to offer resources to filmmakers around the world. In return, we offer our Sponsor Members extra features, such as the ability to upload your headshot and resume into your profile, extra discounts from film-related organizations, recognition as a Sponsor Member in your online profile, access to PAID cast/crew calls, and MORE! In addition, as paid members, Sponsor Members are guaranteed an answer to their emails – please be sure that you are logged in when you send us an email from the CONTACT US form, so that your email arrives flagged as a Sponsor Member email.
For a list of all Sponsor Member benefits and/or to sign up for Sponsor Membership, please visit:

3. What is happening with IndieClub in my area?

First, check out if there is a local group in your area. You can do this by going to a list of our Local Groups:
http://www.indieclub.com/groups
Most of these groups are active, which means that they have a current Local Group Director, and the group meets regularly. By clicking on one of the groups in the list, you will be able to see if you are member of that local group. You will also be able to view information on the Group Director, Current News, Local Message & Posting Board, and a list of group members. You can join the group by clicking on the link at the top of the page. Once you've joined a local group, you'll also receive emails about meetings and events for that group. Getting involved with your local IndieClub Group is one of the best ways to start networking in your area!

4. I need to hire a cast and crew for my upcoming project. How can IndieClub help me?

IndieClub has over 30,000 members worldwide and a very extensive search engine that you can use to find others with certain skills, talents, and experience. From the homepage www.IndieClub.com, click on the SEARCH MEMBERS link. There are 3 different Search Tools you can use to find members (only one search tool can be used a time). You can narrow your search as you go. For example, if you use Search Tool #2 to search for SOUND DESIGN – ON LOCATION, as of July 2005 you will return 6,429 On-location Sound Designers. You can narrow this search by things such as area the member is from, their years of work experience, and more. You can contact members via email from their online profile if you find someone you’d like to work with.

In addition, you can post an audition notice and/or a crew call on the IndieClub.com Posting Board. This will allow other members reading your cast/crew call to contact you directly.

You can also go to a Local Group Meeting to meet actors and crew members in your area. (Refer to Qu #3 for more info).

5. How do I find out more about making films, getting involved in the film industry, or attending/screening at film festivals?

There are many ways to go about finding out more about the film industry. The IndieClub.com website can help you in many ways. You can get involved on a Local level with your nearest IndieClub Group (Refer to Qu #3 for more info).

You can use the IndieClub.com website for research and networking:
1. Our Posting Board has cast/crew calls, Announcements, classes, and more. Find a camera to buy, a class to take, or a film to audition for. Attend a local screening in your area. You can find out about theses things and more on our Posting Board.
2. Our Filmmaking Message Board is one of the most active filmmaking Message Boards on the internet. Learn from other filmmakers and help others along the way. Skill levels vary from beginning to advanced. With the Search Engine, you can learn from previous discussions.
3. Search the Member Profiles to find someone in the club who is interested in the same things you are. Send them an email and see if you can work together.
4. Check out the pull-down menu under RESOURCES on the IndieClub.com homepage. You’ll find a Resource Directory (where you can cross-link your company or website with ours), Filmmaker Interviews, IndieClub newsletters, and a link to our Film Festivals database.
5. Speaking our Film Festival Database… check it out! It is jampacked with useful stuff. You can find out which festival submission deadlines are fast approaching and which festivals are coming up that you want to attend. You can also network with other members on the Festival Message Board to plan meetings at the actual festival. You can order an IndieClub Festival Badge so you quickly identify other IndieClub members at that fest. If you have your own film festival, you can add the festival to the Database and choose to be an IndieClub Sponsor Festival for additional a promotional opportunities.

Bottom line, start getting involved!

6. Why can’t I log in?

First, if you are a new member, you must activate your IndieClub membership. After you signed up, we sent you an email from webmaster@IndieClub.com asking you to click a link in order to activate your membership. We do this to keep people from signing up for the club with fake email addresses. Please click on the activation link that you received in the email we sent to you after you signed up.

If you have logged into IndieClub successfully in the past, here are a few things that you can try if you are having trouble logging into the site or viewing pages once you are logged in:

1. First you must have cookies enabled in your browser. All browsers are different in this area so you'll have to hunt around and make sure they are enabled. However most of the time they are automatically enabled and so if they are not, you probably turned them off manually or are using a software program that did it for you.

2. If you are not sure if you have the right password you can go here: http://www.indieclub.com/login/forgot_password.asp
This will allow you to input the email address that you signed up with and it should email you your password.

3. If you are not sure what email address you signed up with you can send us an email with the email address that you think you are logged in as and we will look it up for you.

4. If you want to just check to see if you are currently logged in and what email you are logged in with, you can go here: http://www.indieclub.com/login/whoami.asp

5. Okay. Troubleshooting. If you have the correct email and password and you are still having issues, do the following:
a. Click LOGOUT at the bottom of the website.
b. Delete your temporary internet files. Also your cookies if you know how to.
c. Then close your browser.
d. Open the browser back up and then LOGIN again by going to one of the secure sections, such as the MESSAGEBOARD. This should solve any issues.

6. If you are still having trouble, make sure your browser is updated with the latest version.

Finally, if you are still having difficulty logging in, please send us an email using the CONTACT US form, and we will attempt to resolve the issue on our end.

7. I have movie I finished and I am trying to sell. How do I let people know?

If you are an IndieClub Sponsor Member, we will help you spread the word about your film to other members. You can list your film or video, including brief synopsis and an image, in our MEMBER MOVIES section. To see what movies are members are selling or to find out about listing your own movie, please visit that section: Member Movies

8. How do I let you know that I’ve changed my email address?

Once you are logged in, click EDIT PROFILE under MY PROFILE in the pulldown menu. Then update your email address to your new one. Save the changes. From this point forward you will log in with your new email address, and all IndieClub Local Group emails and international newsletters will be sent to your new address.

Please send us an email from the CONTACT US form using the appropriate subject line, and please tell us a little bit about your company and/or your service.
