If you want a film done, you have to do it yourself.

There is a turnkey filmmaking service bureau here in Montreal, they actually produce films for you. If you have money, and a screenplay that you're positive you'll make money with, you can bring them to Muse, and they take it from there. I believe the minimum charge is 2 million$, and it goes up depending on the special effects, the name actors you want hired, and so on. They produce the film within your budget up to the master copy, and give it to you. From there, you sell the rights. The film is yours. True turnkey production studio.

Out of curiosity I asked for a quote for only editing a film that I would have shot. Only the editing was around $80k. The deal included 2 video editors and 4 sound editors (foley, sweetening, and mixing). Four weeks of work and the job is done. If there's no bumps on the road of course.

Everything was quite obvious but good for beginners.

Gotta learn the ropes and start from the beginning.
My first feature film cost me $1800 and generated some $2k - in DVD sales but mainly in merch. t-shirts, stickers, mousepads.... I've re-invested that money in another feature, and had a budget of $5k for my second effort.
The third film I made cost me $15k, the fourth one was $40k, and I went too far with my fifth film, which reached $250k. It came out in 2010 but I'm still paying the bills for it today. I'll be done in May 2027.

Well you made some good money with films.  That's good.
