I think it is. Filmmakers need a place just for filmmakers.
If it wasn't for IndieClub, I would never have been able to make movies, and I feel I owe to this place...!

Interestingly, all the great people I met here, I also connected with on Facebook. But everybody lost contact with everybody. And they dare call Facebook a social network? C'mon...

We need a forum like IndieClub back.

Yes. I would be here more often and working on movie projects except that I work all the time now and commute. Looking at getting a job closer to home and gettting back to projects.

Nice to hear from you Trillion! Been a while!

Same for me... Lots of work too, and I'll be spending more time here. IndieClub reaches more my interest than any social media out there. Forums and boards are so much more interesting!

I'm also having new film projects coming at the end of 2016. I'm almost done healing from my previous feature, that came out in 2010.  :D

Hi, Trillion! It would be nice to hear from some of the old (and new) gang, again.

We'll have Christian (John Carter) back soon. He's also done with social media, and always loved IndieClub. Having a beer with him tonight.

Mike, you still have news from Greg Parker? I believe he moved to Albuquerque or something like that?

Greg is in Miami, Florida.  I just saw him, last October.  He was also at the last IndieMeet.  I still have to edit that coverage together.

I never thought that Facebook was a good replacement for these forums.  Very hard to look up posts, etc.  It's all about "right now.'

Looking forward to hearing from Christian!

Christian and I are holding our own 'IndieMeet' pretty much every week, for a couple of beers...!
He's up to his neck with work these days, in a rush with a bunch of video segments for Radio-Canada (Canadian Broadcasting Corp., our national TV network).

We'll see him show up in a few days!

I come every day now. And try to get my filmmaker friends to hop in.
My guess is that more people than we think may be bored of social medias. Maybe the dynamic community we had here will re-live one day!

Glad to see this board is still alive!

I have to agree with Sv - I got sick and tired of Facebook.  These old fashioned boards were much more fun and interesting.

Interestingly enough, even though we lived in the same city, Sv and I first met here.  And we have been indirectly keeping the indieclub spirit alive by meeting most of every week for a drink ever since, for over ten years so far...

Rock on, welcome back Movie Seals!
What happened to John Carter? :-)  Yes, I definitely owe this board just for having met you here. I would have never made this much feature films, venture in Los Angeles jungle and get my stuff distributed and dubbed in foreign territories and so on.

But the best part is certainly the weekly beer. Haha!

Regarding social media, an interesting fact is that the synergy is totally gone between artisans. It's supposed to be a social media, but it does just the opposite. Many of my friends writer can hardly release a book every year since they joined social medias. They write more on the walls, promote more to their community, and spend more time connecting with people than actually writing. Same goes with many of my comic book friends. And some of the musicians I know in bands spend less time composing songs because they spend more time promoting their work.

Time to bring back the good old forums. Forums don't waste member's time by feeding them with valuable information about their friend's best friend who's brushing his teeth.

Jon Ray is still here! I finally made it out to Hollywood and I've turned into an SAG-Aftra actor as well as still writing and directing. Big adventures and roles for me on the horizon. Cheers everyone who remembers me :D

Facebook is great for announcements, but not for referencing topics of discussion.

"Also is anyone still having their local indieclub going? We do since 2003."

Not specifically, IndieClub, but Indiemeet has been inclusive about it, since 2004.  Next one is June 10th-12th.  Just got a new projector and we are ramping up for it.

We'll meet again soon, hopefully this fall. I've been telling Tim Stover and Mia Torres as well. My girlfriend want to go too, maybe see Celine Dion. So yeah, we need to go before the end of 2016.

And when Vegas will have its hockey team, I'll definitely go more often!! lol

You all know me.... you know how I make a livin'.....

Well, its been a long time.  Nice to see that this place is still around and that some of the original members are still kickin'.....  I know I left under bad terms but the doctors have fixed me right up..... Took out half my brain and a portion of my colon..... plus, I've mellowed a little in my old age.  I'm just about 52... A lot of people that use to be here are gone now.. Have they given up?  I don't know...... Have I???

NO.
I've got big plans.  Maybe we can talk about what some of us old timers are going to do next.  I'm turning my attention to Youtube as a viable outlet and possible cash stream.  I've done my research and it does seem possible to make money on Youtube but you have to have something that a lot of people want and you have to have a lot of it...  The cool thing about Youtube is that it offers a true market for short films.  Where else can a 3 minute movie that is wildly entertaining possibly make more than enough money to buy a car?  Of course in reality  that's an overstatement but it could happen.

OK,,, time to take my medicine.  See you later...

Hey, Velusion.  While my DVD days are probably over, I've been thinking about Amazon (and other streaming options) for future projects.  I don't have specifics, but EXILE has received quite a number of views over there.  People keep asking me about putting content on on their Roku channel.  Need to research this more.

This topic deserves its own thread...

Hey there Velusion! Great to hear from you!
Yes, I guess some of us are 'gone', I'm thinking about Tracy Crocket who passed away a few weeks ago, but I don't really have news from a lot of people. Maybe everyone will come back here eventually!  :-)

And yes, the streaming avenue to generate incomes does need a separate topic. I've been streamign stuff and monetizing (sort of) on it for several years.

I too feel I owe IndieClub a lot. I gave credit to this site in the books I've written and would have never been able to make Kisses and Caroms without the help of indieclub and the monthly meeting. Daniel and Laura Martone used to rock the crap outta those and I owe them. I no longer really consider myself an indie filmmaker, i consider myself a youtube filmmaker. I've made more money as a youtuber then I made off my Warner Bros released feature. I've wrestled with making another flick. Emotionally I want to, but the business guy in me buys Apple stock and churns out another cheep profitable youtube video. I have fun making youtube vlogs, I exercise my skills, I reach an audience and I get paid. I highly recommend it. Just start making vids. Churn them out. Upload them. Just do it! James Rogers asked me on FB if I ever visited here so I popped by. And now I've written this. It feels sorata like high school. Its a nostalgic visit, but I'm grown up and not sure I have the time to party here. But I miss IC and remember it fondly. I can say this board isn't very iphone friendly, and that is an obsticle for me to use it.

I currently have 18,000 subscribers and 13 mil views. Most of those views come from a rubicks cube tut, but I've had a few other 100k videos. I average $500 a month. As has been said (here or another thread, maybe by velusion?) it's about mass amounts of content. Youll do better with daily uploads. I'm doing weekly uploads. Also be topical and feed the beast what it wants.

I really miss the days when message boards were the best ways to meet people who share common interests. There were always great topics to read and join daily, and I learned a ton off stuff. There were also some crazy fights and drama, but it sometimes contributed to the charm. Anyways, I still love movies, and occasionally work on small projects with my Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera. I'm also slowly getting around to editing a super8 film that Danny P and I made in 2004, but only recently had transferred professionally. Astral Pictures slowly broke apart over the years because of other obligations, but I'd still love to make a feature movie someday.

I want to be a member of the Feature Film club too! So far, the only thing standing in my way is and has always been ME.
