Funning thing happened when I bought my scanner last week.

I bought a new scanner from Amazon.com.  I do almost all of my shopping there. A few days later the package arrived and I had it.  I sat with the box before me like a kid on Christmas morning.  Twenty seconds later the box was open and I pulled my new toy out.

Funny, it had lint on it and a long hair.  Looked human to me.  I looked over at the CD that came in the box and noticed hand written notes on it. Hmmm.  Something strange is going on here.  Could it be that my brand new scanner isn't new at all?

I set the scanner on the table to examine it further. There were greasy finger prints on it. When I opened the lid to examine the glass plate I discovered another clue that the scanner was not new.  I discovered a picture that the previously owner presumably left behind after scanning it, before returning the device to Amazon.

Here is the front and back of the picture left in the scanner

The scanner works just fine and I see no reason to return it but, I would like to know more about the people in the picture.  I have to assume they are a big hair band from back in the day. They called themselves Witch Dokters.  I have looked all over the internet but I can't find any info on this band.  It's too bad because I would like to contact them and arrange to give the picture back in exchange for a glimpse at what they look like now, in 2017.

Anyway, I thought that was interesting...

Amazon eh?

I also bought something from amazon today.  I buy from the French version of Amazon.

There are just so many things you can buy from France that you do not get on the other versions of Amazon.

"I would like to contact them and arrange to give the picture back"

Pff, yeah I bet it's a strong desire in you to give their silly picture back.

You have the silliest urges.

Glad you got a nice scanner dude!   Scanners are great.  I had a few but they need ink cartridges to work so I just never bought new cartridges coz they're too expensive so the scanners stood unused until I just threw them into my props department or some such abyss.

Tip:  Don't scan your butt.  You'll break the glass if you sit on it and cut your rectum.

LOL!  You're in rare form today, my friend..

The second part of the sentence I wrote explains why I would like to give the picture back.  Here it is one more time for your review.

"I would like to contact them and arrange to give the picture back in exchange for a glimpse at what they look like now, in 2017."

,,, and I have to assume you were joking when you said your scanner is out of ink...but In case you weren't, I would like to be the first to tell you that scanners don't use ink.

Yes they do.

The ones I had wouldn't work unless they have working cartridges in them too.

So you're talking about one of those all in one print stations. A printer with a scanner built in..  I had one too but I never ran completely out of ink.  Never notices the scanner not working.

Note the date '90.  Which predates consumer internet.  Which is probably why you can't find them online.
