TV - explanation of my use.

TV as display screen for rental DVDs. You can watch a lot of movies when you want for the price of PAY TV.

TV free-to-air for some movies, usually re-looks or ones I missed or passed on.

Cinemas I probably use about three to five times in a year for a major must see feature or local production.

TV is where I watch it. But maybe the question should be "Where do you get your content?"

Network.

NetFlix.

Hulu.

VuDu.

Rarely watch  YouTube. Usually only when it's embedded somewhere. I don't go to YouTube to search.

Good point.  I guess I would consider HULU, etc. even if watched on TV as the internet answer.  I guess it should say, "CABLE/SATELLITE" and "INTERNET ON COMPUTER."  :-)

I was looking at this old POLL and I am curious what the results would be today.  So here are the old results for our reference:

1. TV   48%  (10)
2. COMPUTER   38%  (8)
3. IPAD/SIMILAR   5%  (1)
4. PHONE   5%  (1)
5. OTHER   5%  (1)

So start voting again and we can see if anything has changed!

I am streaming movies since 6 years, right off my own server. I can tell you a few facts (at least from my own statistics).

1) People watch movies on TV for much longer periods of time.
2) People watching on computer rarely sticks for more than 5 minutes.
3) When they do, it's because they use their computer to stream to a TV screen.
4) Next to no one watch on tablet or mobile.

I made a few years ago a mobile app, available on Apple App store, and an Android version for Google's Play store. I quit the app market because of the poor results, and because developers have to constantly re-invest in development to keep their app up to date so it doesn't become obsolete. It's not a matter of choice, if you don't update regularly your apps, it becomes unusable when Apple or Android update their software. And they update it several times a year. Bottomline you work hard on an app, and promote the hell out of it, yet the only one really taking advantage of it is Apple or Android. Some facts I had from my app development experience:

1) People on iPhone/iPad download a lot, but don't use the apps. I had a lot of sales from Apple's app store, but I noticed very little connections to my streaming server coming from iOS devices. So were the sales real ones? Or fake sales, and Apple gave me some petty money so I promote my app and bring more users to App store? It's a possibility.

2) I've had very little Android downloads. A few dozen at most. But the logs on my server revealed a huge load of streams served coming from Android devices, and a lot of older versions of Android. There were several hundreds of daily users, for a handful of sales. Was the app stolen and placed on a torrent site? No idea. Were these fake connections, aimed at encouraging me to develop more Android apps? Possibly.

Netflix, Amazon Prime, You Tube.  I have Hulu but will likely cancel as I recently found out nobody in my family watches it. I'm giving them a week to see if they find any reason to keep it.

I have cable at my house and I watch it on presidential election night and national disasters like 911.
I have it so I can get to internet. But other people at my house watch it.

Sv Bell, I watch movies all the time on my lap top. Many of us don't screen to TV screens. I can't sit and watch a tv screen. I want to be doing other things at the same time.

I'm watching the Americans series right now everynight on my laptop. I've done that with tons of series's

I don't know how you can do that Trillion, I've never been able to watch anything on a laptop - or computer screen! When sitting in front of my computer, I'm working on stuff. And when I watch a movie, I don't want anything that will distract me. But that's just me, I like to do one thing at a time.

In my office I always have TV playing (usually Space Channel!). I take a peek every now and then at what's playing, but I can't tell I really watch a film like this. My brain focus is elsewhere.
