"Sand Prairie"
the western
IndieClub.com partners with Jim Conover to bring you a feature filmmaking opportunity in the state of Illinois!

This is your opportunity to be involved in the making of a western! This is a full feature-length movie. What are you doing this summer?

We are in the process of putting together cast and crew for a non-budget western movie that will be shot using all volunteers. There will be no pay for any position, only credits and experience. If the movie rights are sold, all monies gained will be shared by cast and crew – prorated with each person's contribution to making the film. It will be filmed using the latest broadcast quality 3ccd Mini-DV Camera.

DETAILS:

It will be shot on property near Hopedale that surrounds the Mackinaw River where we are going to build a small western town called "Sand Prairie" on 40 acres of land that has one mile of river front both sides to film on. This property belongs to a member of the project. This member also has authentic weapons and other articles from the 1800's that will be used in the production. We also have members of the project who will supply horses, buggies and wagons.

Another member has pledged the used lumber we will use to build the western town as well as generators and running electrical power lines to the site. This member is also a building contractor who owns adjacent land that can be used and will help build the town. Another building contractor has volunteered to help with the project.

The screenplay is a fun, action-based story with plenty of drama and romance to keep everyone happy. We are currently slated to start shooting on June 18, 2005. As with any production this date is subject to change.

The shoot will be shot in consecutive days and will be a fast-paced professional shoot. Because everyone is volunteering their time we are currently planning the shoot to be as short as possible without sacrificing quality. We want to insure that we can make the opportunity available to as many people as possible especially if they are taking time off to be involved in the production. More details on the shooting schedule are coming soon.

We are planning on using as many local actors and crew as possible. If you are interested in any of the following positions, we may have a position open:

UPDATES

UPDATE: February 7, 2005

There is 1 male lead, 1 female lead, 1 protaganist and several more very good speaking parts to be filled by both men and women. We've got good guys, bad guys, dancehall girls, undertaker, bartenders, stage driver, business owners and busy bodies!  So far there are about 80-100 on screen parts, some speaking, some non-speaking, many walk ons, and many, many extras. A lot of people have contacted me offering to help in all phases of the production. Everybody, including most of the actors will be helping construct the town. Everybody involved will be important to the production of a good movie. The construction workers, the electricians, the wranglers, the doctors, the paramedics, set designers, just to name a few. Let's face it, without the off screen personnel we couldn't make the movie at all. Everybody will be in the credits and will be given an opportunity to try for available parts.

UPDATE: February 15, 2005

While we're still in pre-production, there are some things you can do.  For instance, you can start putting together the wardrobe and western gear you would like to use in the movie.  Just remember this movie is a period piece and set in 1876,  so design your clothes and western gear as such. If it played in 1876, it'll play in the movie. Please contact me before you go spend a lot of money on clothing. Let me know what you're getting. Perhaps it's something we can provide. Just remember there is no budget for this movie.
