Damn, it really is our 5th one in 6 years!
WHAT? A bunch of filmmaking/artist types come to Vegas, for 3 days (sometimes 8!), to mingle, eat, drink and share knowledge.

WHEN? Memorial Day weekend - May 22nd-24th.
WHERE? Mike and Sheila Conway's house, in N/W Las Vegas. (PM me for the address.)
COST? No charge, but donations to cover the snacks/meals are deeply appreciated.
(Getting started)

(2008's roasted Marshmallow fight)

WHAT HAPPENS? You can attend and watch movies/demos, while roasting marshmallows (see above pic) Better yet, get involved. Bring your short film (20 minutes or less) and we'll play it between or after features. Do you know about distribution or entertainment law? Talk about it. Present a demo. Past demos have included:
Airsoft/Blank firearms Greenscreen shooting 3D Imaging Making squibs Silicone molds Making blood Makeup application Music for film Synthesizer basics Cameras Stunt fighting Production, etc.
Please keep topics under 20 minuts. This year, there will be an exception, as we will light, shoot, edit and apply post-fx to a scene, which covers several topics.

(Feature times may be tentative.)
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
FRIDAY 6pm - Hors D' Oeuvres, meet and greet. 8:00pm - Feature movie, EXILE 9:30pm to 2am (approx.) - Short films
SATURDAY 1:00pm to 7pm - presentations, demos....and pizza! 7:30pm - Feature movie, CRAWLER (presented by sv Bell) 9:30pm - Feature movie, RECON 2023 (presented by Christian Viel) 11:15pm to 2am (approx.) - Short films
SUNDAY 1:30pm (approx.) - Several of us will go see TERMINATOR: SALVATION (Click on the titles to see corresponding trailers.)
The economy is dictating some very reasonable prices on rooms.
NEAREST LODGING: Santa Fe Station TEXAS STATION Fiesta Rancho
All 3 on Rancho Drive. (All within 4 to 5 miles.) Additionally:
Cannery Hotel (7 miles, but a straight shot down Craig Rd)
Quicktime video of the 2006 IndieMeet (Allow about 30 seconds to load for broadband.)
If you want to keep track of who might be there, join the Vegas IndieMeet FaceBook page.

This is gonna be a loooooooong thread...
I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone that GPS the movie is available for sale. A movie might I add that I have nothing to do with... and now back to indie meat.

I miss it every year because we always have a shindig of our own going on. This year I've also had to turn down topless girls at the river.
On a side note, completely unrelated - I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone to see I Love You, Man. A movie, might I add, that I have nothing to do with... and now back to indie meat.

Um Vince you still have that invite for the river I can represent for ya. LOL j/k
Oh and of course I have my 5th Annual I'll Be Missing The Vegas IndieMeet Again celebration. :-( A few more years when kids are in college I should be able to make it.
And I would liek to second the suggestion to go see "I Love You, Man". What a great movie.

I'll be there if it kills me! (And the way this past year has gone it just might.) Is there a Best Western anywhere close to you? I get a discount from most BW's. I'm about going crazy to see how Exile turned out. Also I want to meet some of the crazy people from Indie Club.

There's a Best Western down Craig Road, about 10 miles. Craig is the road we live off of.

"I'm about going crazy to see how Exile turned out."
If you can't wait, EXILE is playing Saturday, April 18th, at 9pm, at the Plaza hotel. It is part of a sci-fi/fantasy festival, called Xanadu Las Vegas.
It is kind of a soft premiere, before IndieMeet happens.

Scott, it looks like I can sneak you in for EXILE.
I don't think there is a day pass and I know you don't want to pay for 3 days. Then again, it is a sci-fi/fantasy fest, so 3 day passes can be had here - Xanadu registration

Less than 2 weeks away...
"EXILE has all the right elements for good science fiction: monsters, androids, spaceships, but most importantly it has a good story." -Nic Brown, bmovieman.com

THE CRAWLER image, above, is a png. If it doesn't appear, click THIS.

BTW, anyone who is bringing a short (or above movie), I suggest Verbatim, Sony...DVD +-Rs. There's a certain brand that starts with "M" that I have trouble playing, as did the last festival I attended.

Last year, it rained (drizzled actually) all 3 days! That was abnormal. Expect 100 - 105 degrees and some wind.
We just got a new airconditioner and it cranks!

BTW, Martin, I meant that those temps were daytime highs, when most demos happen inside....save for this year's compressed air blood cannon! We watch the movies at night, so probably 70s - low 80s in the evenings.
We still have room for a few sleepovers, if that helps anybody's wallet.

That Crawler poster is fantastically done.
It also inspires me to start painting my posters by hand. Not sure if this Crawler one is actually painted by hand but it reminded me of an ambition I had of painting my posters with poster paint in that whole dramatic fashion.

I want to shout out a big "THANK YOU!!!" to Eric Colley, Spencer and whoever else is responsible for the IndieMeet mentions on the Home Page and Newsletters! That is extremely cool.
The 7' tall, Alien Warrior Comedian, from Last Comic Standing will perform Friday night, right after EXILE shows. This guy is hilarious, and he also happens to be a big fan of TERRARIUM, which is why he's coming.

As long is it doesn't rain out, this is looking to be the best attended Meet, so far.

Any reason to buy those Terminator tickets in advance for the Sunday showing? We're there. In fact coming in a day early to enjoy the Vegas strip a little before hunkering down in indieworld.
Bringing a short of Natasha's and a coupla folding lawn chairs.

"Any reason to buy those Terminator tickets in advance for the Sunday showing?"
You can if you want to, but those kind of movies are usually on 3 or 4 screens, at the multiplexes, so they don't really sell out. Still, not a bad idea. Sunday, Rancho Santa Fe, sometime closest to 1 or 1:30pm, is what we'll try for.
Excellent idea with the folding chairs and a day on the strip! I know Kelly Johnston and his girlfriend, Debi, flew in this afternoon, but haven't heard from them. Her first time to Vegas, so I know that they're making the rounds.
I tested out the projectors, tonight. One is a backup. Everything is working. A couple of us are building the screen support, Thursday morning. Picking up about 70 rental chairs, after that. Nothing as comfy as lawn chairs, though. :>)
Can't wait to see you and Natasha!

Thanks for posting those, Martin! I'm waiting for Marcus to send me 3 hours of tape, so I can put together a montage.
The Meet was great. Weather was perfect, every night. In fact, I put on a jacket, late Sunday. The last guy left this evening (Monday night). I am sooooooooo tired. Fri, Sat, Sun nights I stayed up until 7:30am, 6:30am and 4:30am, respectively!
"How many people attended?"
Had about 60 people, Friday night. About 45 or more, Saturday night. About 25 for the Sunday pool party. Different people on each night, with a handful of regulars.
EXILE, followed by the Alien Warrior comedian had the biggest draw. He was really funny, and a bit aggressive.

wow Mike, every year I plan on coming, and life seems to get in the way. Hats off to you for being involved and sharing the fun in a social setting. It's funny, I live in LA but you have a better hands on networking and doing things which is hard to do here. Everyone is too busy getting by and making a buck.
Once again, I hope life settles and I can plan on coming next year if it's on again.

The Alien Warrior Comiedian.scared the living wits out of Natasha. After Exile's credits, she went in the house and screamed bloody murder. Turned out the 7' comic was waiting right inside the door to go on.
Another of his naughty jokes. "You monkeys think we like to use anal probes. That's ridiculous. I use my finger".
